It pains me each single day to imagine that one day I will wake up to news that my 93 year old grandmother Miriam Odinga is no more. God knows our destinies but nature dictates that she is an old woman having a few more years to live. It hurts even more that the same house my late grandfather built her over 30 years ago is the same one she lives in. He could only manage to build a house with iron sheet roof and mud walls. Losing my mother 29 years ago drew me too close to my grandmother, living my childhood life seeing her cheerful and energetic to a point where she is unable to walk comfortably in the present. The bond is so strong that I decided to give her the best present. If she has to leave the world before me then let it be in a decent house. I am a father of three now who has been struggling with life to make ends meet for my family as well as supporting my grandmother back in the village. However whatever I get is not enough to build her a house that she will be comfortable living in. I know deep down in my heart that I will find it very difficult living through the rest of my life knowing I did not build her a house. My humble appeal to you is to help me achieve this dream. I really want to put a smile on her face and a healing in my heart that finally I did it for her. I love that woman with all my heart and my prayer is she lives longer to enter a new house.
