Give The Garbage Collector “SUAD” a better life.

**Please note that this campaign is for a family in Baghdad – Iraq, but we’re starting the fundraiser from here in Jordan for some reasons that makes withdrawing the funds from Iraq will take many of transactions that are costly expensive.**

We are SHAMS Volunteering Team, a group of volunteers from Baghdad - Iraq and Jordan volunteering to make a difference in people’s lives, especially those whom mostly impacted post-war, because we believe that less fortunate people must receive help and care from people who are able to provide it.

Now let’s tell you about the story!!

Recently, we read a report about a 24 years old female which works as a garbage collector in a waste dump in Baghdad, so we searched and reached the young lady Suad and discussed her story with her family in details. Now we raising money to fund Suad and her family, Suad is a 24 years single mother of a 4 years old child, she lives with her dad, her younger 4 sisters and her married older brother with 3 children in a ramshackle house that lacks the minimum requirements of life in Qada Al Husayniya -a densely populated area that suffers from lack of services- eastern Baghdad, Iraq. None of Suad or her siblings had the chance to go to school so they all can't read or write, Suad's dad has some medical issues which prevents him from working, her older married brother can hardly cover up his 3 children and wife’s needs and participate in paying rent. Therefore, Suad and her younger sisters are the only supporters of the family.

Suad and her sisters (and also her married brother) collect garbage and recyclable waste at a dump for a living, with no face masks or gloves, they only wear a scarf on their faces to protect themselves from diseases while diving between mountains of waste so they can BARLEY make about $6-$8 a day, which is not even close to what a normal human need to cover the very basic life expenses, as they have to pay their house rent, buy their father’s medicine, get food and gas for cooking and keeping warm in winter. Many days Suad and her family can’t afford buying food, other days they can’t get gas to warm the house in the cold days, the only place they get new clothes from is the dump.

We want to help Suad and her family to have a decent living and a better future (especially her 4 years old daughter), by providing them with a livable home and a healthy source of income. So, in order to do that our plan is to buy Suad and her family a new house and help them (and coach them) to start a small business in something that they will be able to work and manage it so it be their source of income. Both these things need $35,000 divided to two stages:

1- $10,000 to start a business for the family.

2- $25,000 to buy the family a new house.

Till the moment we launched this campaign, we have raised $4,500 offline, and we have $31,500 left to ensure that we are going to provide them the life they deserve.

* Any money remains from the business’s $10,000: it will be added to the home’s $25,000 budget.

* Any extra money remains from the whole campaign: it will be given to Suad and her family in cash.
