For almost a year now, I have been wanting to play with my friends in VRChat, an online virtual reality social game. Playing using my extremely unequipped laptop made the experience (or lack thereof) quite depressing because not only was I unable to communicate with them in realtime, but also most of the time I could not even join the room they were in, as my laptop would crash. I had made strong, close friendships with them over social websites such as Discord, but when it came to playing and interacting with them, I had to refrain.

I had tried to scrape together some cash, but because of being underage and having parents who are extremely biased against anything technological ( the only "advanced" tech I own is from late 2007 save for this laptop, which was produced at 2010) has made it extremely hard to get together the amount of money I needed. Virtual reality needs a strong, advanced PC which alone costs over 1,800 USD where I live, and the VR system costs another thousand four-hundred on its own. Shipping and import costs for the PC's monitor alone are $534.60, which is a lot of money for a 17 year-old to get from little jobs. The items I planned to buy are a PC and VR system as said before, a keyboard, mouse and monitor, and a few trackers and audio strap (100$) for the VR system to function as needed.

I'm not in a rush to get this done, although I do appreciate if the funds were gathered by September - them being gathered afterwards is completely fine, though. Being a young-ling and all has made recieving shipping items quite difficult, but as I am 17 and one year away from becoming a registered adult, I'm willing to wait a year or more if needed.

I am not an outdoor person. People have told me more than often that I need to work on my body language and eye contact but it has been more trouble than anything; I found in the virtual world, in our tight-knit online community some solace - they didn't care who my father was or how much money I got as allowance per week, they didn't stop talking to me at the littlest social misconduct, they didn't judge and lie and fake and suck up for things - I had found sincere support somewhere, and if this campaign helps me keep those cherished friends I had worked hard to find, I'd be grateful-- no, I'd owe my life to anyone who helped me get rid of the anxiety I get, day and night, thinking about when will my rickety old laptop give out and I'd lose everything I helped build. Every relationship, every friendship, every small talk at the little balcony staring at a starry sky and dreaming about the future.

Every person who donates to this campaign, regardless of the amount, will get their name on a monument I will design as a part of a special map in the VRChat game - along with thank-you notes and acknowledgements.
