The realization of a project and in particular of a videogame on an independent level poses technical and motivational difficulties that can overwhelm anyone.

Always in the balance between dream and regret, the journey towards the creation of a video game in my opinion needs sharing and motivation even more than the necessary skills.

The indieGo.xyz project (indie for independent game development, Go stay for start and keep dreaming and xyz recalls to the three Cartesian axes foundation of the development of a video game) is born from the passion of a single person and wants to be a natural meeting point and a technical and motivational sharing point for anyone who embraces the dream of creating their own game, whether for passion or for work.

The project has already been born and can be found at this link: https://www.indiego.xyz

Already then why apply for funds you are wondering?

Because a good idea and a good realization are not enough. It is necessary to make yourself known and get to every possible developer out there and in order to do it in the end you come up against the need to go through the expensive channels available on the web like socials, YouTube and more.

Since its birth, hundreds of developers have joined together on indieGo.xyz, but to make the necessary quality leap, while keeping the project open and free, the personal budget of a single person is not enough.

Without considering the thousands and more ideas related to design, t-shirts, partnerships, mobile apps, events and more.

Ideas that also come from the same community that is small but passionate.

My personal dream has found a concrete form that is also a guarantee for you that you read that there is more than words here but it is also clear that for great results the passion and a necessarily limited personal budget are no longer enough.

Clearly the first way to support the project is to sign up now @ https://www.indiego.xyz and take an active part in the discussions but if you believe (and of course you want) that this project may have a great future as it is in my head and as I wrote above or even want to offer a coffee (I drink too many in reality) or maybe a pizza (I'm Italian on the other hand) to this poor dreamer I could only be grateful, first of all because you'll let me know that this my idea (which could have died many times) also has value for many others.

I would like to insert below a part of an article that I wrote and visible on indieGo.xyz site which is the genesis of everything.

Thanks so far.

Where it all began

A new site dedicated to games development? With all the ideas can you throw money and energy to accomplish just that?

Certainly these and other questions can be made to me and for sure someone who will end up on these pages will do it for sure.

So why not talk briefly about what prompted me to do this.

It all started in the 80s for me when I was a kid and my parents gave me a Commodore 64. On the switch on, incomprehensible words immediately appeared on the cathode ray tube in my bedroom:

64K, RAM, BYTES that resounded in my mind like an arcane rebus born from some kind of brilliant and superior mind.

And then that cursor immediately after the word READY.

A blinking cursor.

I could write!

Yeah, but what?

I would like to be able to tell the story of a wunderkind who in just a few days created an elegant algorithm out of nothing or who managed to program under some kind of inspiration a puzzle called Tetris which then entered the history of video games.

Yes, I would like...but it wasn't like that.

But something changed forever and the passion of video games before and then programming accompanies me ever since until the idea of combining these two aspects flashed into my mind like something serious and possible.

And I'm not talking about a profession but something more noble not necessarily linked to a job.

Passion.

Creating a small videogame even just for personal pleasure could have represented in my heart one of those dreams that, if suffocated, can then turn into regret.

"So why not start studying?" I said to myself. After all, nowadays there are many resources that were not available at the time: online tutorials, free and paid courses, many books and reviews with which to find your way and, above all, development engines and free or low-cost graphics tools that are very powerful and that open the doors to anyone wishful to try.

It was all within my reach; but creating a video game requires different skills often delegated in a team to the most heterogeneous people: programming, music, sound effects, gameplay, design, graphics and animations for example.

And it is clear that in front of this mountain enthusiasm is immediately overwhelmed by a sea of doubts.

"I will never have time to complete this endeavor" - I said to myself at times.

And here it is the biggest challenge, finally showing itself in all its crudeness. Even greater than the competence needed to carry out the project itself.

The crossroads that stood before me (and on which I still find myself) ask me whether to let go, and risk regret, or continue to dream one step at a time by investing time and energy in something that could never really take shape.

But with my feet on the verge of that crossroads, while I was looking for technical answers (and not of course) on the Internet and I came across numerous sites and forums of video game engines, populated surely even by competent people, no one mentioned that crossroads made of possible risks and regrets.

I then began to feel the need to take a step back. Before answering my personal crossroads I had to try to understand if I could respond to this need that I felt, for myself and maybe even for someone else.

Is it possible that others hear it?

Having a single virtual place that could represent a meeting point both for the exchange of skills, as impartial as possible and therefore without a "flag", but also a meeting point for the genuine exchange of ideas, advice, perplexities, disappointments, encouragement.

Why can't people united by the same passion during a complex and tortuous journey not travel at least part of it together? So what to do? A forum? A sort of wiki? A market? All these things?

"Is it worth adding on my shoulders a further project instead of investing time (and money) to create your game?" - I said to myself.

I had to answer this and other questions within myself.

I didn't know, and in some respects I don't know yet, whether this need for sharing is mine alone or not.

I like to think that other people were somehow waiting for something like this and in the meantime, with regards to my game, I'm still with my feet firmly planted on that fork and I often find myself asking a question.

Few details, but contrasted and fascinating:

Keep dreaming or wake up?
