Fundraising for SHEILA MAE “Majal” BLANCO- ALVAREZ

Sheila is a loving wife of Mar Henry Alvarez.

Sheila was found pregnant on the first quarter of 2022. On her first trimester, she complained of having epigastric and lower back pain. They immediately went to see her OB-GYNE for consultation around month of April. They ran some laboratory test and was diagnosed with UTI. Oral antibiotic was given to which she completed. Unfortunately, infection and fever continued to persist. Her OB- GYNE advised her to take bed rest since she is in unfathomable pain. After some time, she begun experiencing difficulty in breathing, cough, palpitations and high fever on and off. They went back to the hospital for a check up and another round of laboratory tests. She was diagnosed with Bilateral Pneumonia. Her OB decided to confine her in the hospital.

It was on May 1, 2023 that she got admitted to the hospital. Her temperature was managed under the supervision of her OB. Despite the close monitoring of her OB on her temperature, it still went incessantly high and low. Fearing that this might bring further complications, considering she is pregnant, her OB decided to refer her case with other specialists. Tests for Malaria, Dengue, Meningitis, and the likes were administered wherein all yieled negative results.

After 2 weeks of being hospitalized, she felt a little better and decided to go home due to financial difficulties. She was given and instructed to take home medications. Follow up check ups and laboratory requests were done regularly as prescribed. Every now and then the discomfort of a never-ending high fever continuously bugged her. She was managing it with only doses of Paracetamol per Physician's advise. The same being the safest medication without having to compromise the baby's health inside her womb.

On June 9, 2023, worst scenario happened, Sheila succumbed to excessive bleeding. Immediate medical care was then resorted to. She underwent ultrasound with the supervision of her OB and was discovered that the 5-month old baby inside her womb was already with no cardiac activity(no heartbeat). Furthermore, complications were likewise seen in the scan such as liver and kidney inflammation. Hence, the baby inside the womb needed to be removed the soonest time possible.

On June 10, 2023, Sheila was administered with a tablet to aid in normal delivery. An angel baby boy named Seth Matthew “Matt- Matt” Blanco Alvarez was removed from her mother's womb. That was very challenging decision that Sheila's husband and family members has to take in order to save her. Thereafter, Sheila’s hemoglobin count and blood pressure dropped. An immediate blood transfusion was advised as a band-aid solution. 5 bags of blood was ethically transfused.

When so suddenly, last Sunday, June 11, 2023, Sheila was transferred to the ICU due to flat lines as seen through the ECG monitor. She was revived for four (4) times and was then intubated. Adding to that, there were couple of adverse effects experienced such as difficulty if breathing, rashes and palpitations. Thanks to Medical/ICU Department for saving her!

Another 2 bags of blood was ethically transfused due to heavy bleeding.

Sheila remains to be in critical condition up to now and still needs further treatments.

Sheila is an Admin Officer II in National Food Authority (NFA Capiz). Her salary is just enough to help meet their monthly family expenses. As such, this ordeal greatly posed serious financial losses to her and her family. She ceased reporting to work beginning April 26, 2023 up to this day.

Sheila’s family and friends are knocking at your most generous hearts for prayers and financial support. She has a long way to go so she can regain her strength and get back on track. We continue to pray that with God’s grace, she will get back to her normal state and can fully recover.
