Fundraising for Papa Cristobal Tanangco’s surgeries

We know that everyone is having a hard time right now because of the pandemic. Some of you may even be going through much worse. Despite this, we just had to try and appeal to those who have extra to spare to help lighten up the load of our friend, Mariami Tanangco Domingo, who is worrying about her father's condition, and at the same time, trying to pool the funds needed for his surgeries.

To give you a background, Papa Cristobal Tanangco is 74. Last May, he was confined in the hospital for severe anemia due to blood in his urine and had to go through blood transfusion. According to the doctor, he had very low blood pressure and he suffered a minor heart attack.

The cause of bleeding was later diagnosed as urinary bladder cancer. They need to remove the whole bladder ASAP so that the cancer will not spread in other parts of his body. But after a series of tests and screenings, the doctors also discovered that Papa Cristobal has aortic aneurysm. It would be too dangerous to undergo bladder surgery if they don't operate on his aortic aneurysm first.

BUT they also discovered that before they can operate on his aneurysm, they have to do angioplasty first to fix the blocked arteries around his heart.

Instead of just one surgery, it quickly ballooned to three. The estimated cost for each operation is P500,000 which totals to P1.5M. This does not include the other miscellaneous expenses like blood transfusion, medications (which will be lifetime), etc.

Yam is the breadwinner in her family. She works as a writer and she also has her own business, KETO KUSINA PH. She has started withdrawing investments for the medical expenses. But it's not enough. TIME is also her enemy. Bank loans take too much time. She has no time to work and earn the money needed because it's urgent that Papa Cristobal get the surgeries ASAP or the cancer may spread.

We know how hard it is for everyone right now. Whatever you can spare will be greatly appreciated by Yam and her family.
