A YOUNG MOTHER FROM THE PHILIPPINES NEEDS MEDICAL HELP
Life is hard enough in the Philippines and adding medical expenses makes it even harder. The majority of the people in the Philippines do not have access to medical health insurance. Medical assistance for poor families is not available or hard to come by if available at all.
Emelieta is a young mother of 2 who makes a living by working as house help and her husband works as a shoemaker. They are making just under $10.00 (Php 500) a day combined income, just enough to feed their children and buy basic needs for the entire family.
A few weeks ago, she started having shortness of breath and fever. Not having enough money to go to a doctor she kept the symptoms to herself hoping she will feel better soon. After a week, people around her noticed her shortness of breath and loss of weight. They persuaded and helped her seek medical help. Initial X-ray results shows fluid built up and a possible growth on her lungs. Further medical tests such CT scan is needed to verify her medical condition and eventually find the right treatment for her.
Getting a CT scan alone is very expensive in the Philippines and cannot be afforded by Emelieta. On behalf of Emelieta and her family, we are asking for your help to assist her with her medical expenses.
May God bless you.
