Fundraiser to run Our First Intervarsity Slam Competition

Who are we?

We are students of the International University of Malaya-Wales (IUMW) (located in Kuala Lumpur) who came together to form the IUMW Literary Arts Club (est. Oct 2017). The club was initially formed as a book club. Today, the club is a platform for expression for literature arts, such as reading, writing, and spoken word. Since March 2018, the club has run a total of 8 open mic events within campus. Our open mic events are focused on Spoken Word.

What are we doing?

This Intervarsity Slam is a poetry slam competition open to all university students in Malaysia to compete for the title of Intervarsity Slam Champion. The theme for this competition will be Culture.

Why do we need the funds?

We're running out of time to initiate the preliminary rounds of the event. Poetry is a niche in Malaysia which makes it harder to obtain sponsorship opportunities from brands and companies. We have sent out emails to companies and brands, where we have been rejected or have yet received a response. This funding page is our last resort to be able to kick-start the event. We would be so honoured if you would consider donating any amount, no matter how small, we really want to run this event so that students can partake in this form of competition. Your contribution will definitely be credited in our posts and materials.

What will we use the funds for?
