On January 28, 2019, Stephen (Steve) Genotiva, our teammate, was taken to Capitol Medical Center emergency room due to severe pain in the stomach. The diagnosis is multiple gallstones and pancreatitis. His state quickly declined resulting in a number of days’ stay in the ICU to stabilize him in the hope that he can be operated on. On top of aggressive medication, they had to start draining his pancreas and place a stent on his bile duct to arrest further decline.

After a series of ups and downs he finally underwent an open operation to remove his gallbladder and drain the pseudocyst that had developed in his pancreas. Thankfully, the procedures were successful and he is now doing his best to recuperate at the hospital.

All this, however, resulted in current bills amounting to about PHP1 million even after all previous payments made and excluding doctors’ professional fees. His family was advised that starting today all of his treatments will be on cash basis. His HMO and government options have all been maxed out. We, along with his family, have been raising funds to slowly cover the need the past weeks. With this latest development, we felt that a good way to secure more support is to spread the word to his many friends.

Steve has been a great ally to many of us, including his colleagues, former teams and everyone he worked with. He has stood by many of us during challenging times and we would like to be able to give back and help him hurdle his.

We hope that through the assistance of many, we can get him back on his feet so that he can continue to help others. We are reaching out to you in the hope that you may also share what you can to help them financially and pray consistently for his fast recovery.

Thank you!
