Sad day for the girl!

Update posted by Shun Wong

I am terribly sorry to tell you all this.

So I've been doing some light training recently and tried to step up a little for the event. I’ve ended up hurting myself. I thought it wouldn't have any effect on the event at first but unfortunately, this isn't the case.

Just got most of the results back from the doc after a MRI and an ultrasound scan. Turned out one of the tendons and a ligament near my knee was inured (minor) and a cyst has developed inside my knee due to the trauma. The doc said it would be a very stupid idea to walk a 28km now, it will cause tremendous amount of pain and also will bring irreversible damage to my knee. I'm absolutely gutted!!!

Good news is, the event will be still going on, on the 31st Oct. My team (of 4) will take turns and share the 28km, few friends will be joining us for the journey. The route has changed from hiking up and down the mountain to going along the coastline, which is mostly flat and sealed roads. I will do 5 to 7km on my feet and the rest I am thinking to hire a wheelchair and roll myself through. That way I can also carry everyone's bags and probably help photographing lol. This I will have to confirm again in the near future. Three things I can promise everyone though,

- the 5-7km walk

- the 28km shared with the team on the 31st Oct.

- I'm doing the original route alone when my knee gets better, expecting to be in Jan/Feb.

Will have further updates in the next few days. Stay tuned!
