Foster care

I have always had a passion to work with kids, especially the orphans and vulnerable children, and have been involved with numerous projects where we nurture and care for them.

Last year I volunteered with Hope for Life Foundation to work at Katutura State Hospital with the social babies and this has been the most fulfilling experience of my life!! I never knew that a one-hour visit could make such a huge difference, not only to the babies, but also to the nursing staff, who despite their normal duties to care for sick patients, also have to care for these kiddies.

The volunteers received BabyGym training on how to engage and stimulate the babies and to help them grow and develop to their full potential and it is so awesome to see how these babies start sitting on their own, then crawl and then walk! It feels like a personal victory when one of the babies give their first steps!

This year I was approached by the Foundation and asked if I would like to foster a baby. My heart immediately screamed YES YES YES and thankfully the rest of my household agreed. We received a 2-week-old boy in our house and hearts and he has changed our lives forever!

There are so many babies out there who are in desperate need of a caring home and loving parents and if I could take them all in, I surely would! Luckily Hope for Life Foundation has started a baby home where they will be able to foster these babies and they are also in the process of building a baby box, where mommies can leave their babies in a safe place and without judgement.

The aim of this fundraiser is to raise awareness and funds to pay for daycare for our foster babies and also to get the necessary accessories, like car seats, strollers, milk, nappies and cots for the babies.
