Our modern world has a profound influence on how we preserve knowledge, and on how we interact with our environment. The diversity of our natural environment is under pressure, and at the same time we are about to lose our traditional local libraries.

We consider it our mission to counter the diminishing of our local libraries and to raise awareness of our natural environment in one crowdfunding action. The recent economic miseries and its consequences have resulted in budget cuts in the already tight budgets of our small libraries. To help our struggling harbours of knowledge we ask you to donate a unique edition to your (school or community) library that will enrich your community and will raise awareness of the wide variety of our natural environment.

The Royal Horticultural Society’s Encyclopedia of Conifers is a magnificent two volume complete reference work of all known conifer cultivars and species.The Encyclopedia of Conifers is a true symbol of preservation of knowledge and a demonstration of wide variety of our natural environment. For every library it is a reference work worth acquiring and keeping for future generations. The rise of internet and digital databases will end a centuries old tradition: highly qualitative printed Encyclopedias. Niche reference works might be the first to disappear.It’s our belief that the Encyclopedia of Conifers is the final product of a historical tradition that is now changing. The Encyclopedia as we know it will no longer exist. As a token, a symbol of our time, we consider it our mission to support libraries in their main task and responsibility: to preserve knowledge.
