For the Victims of the Mindanao Earthquakes

Mindanao has experienced a series of strong earthquakes this October. On October 16, 2019, a magnitude 6.3 earthquake hit Mindanao and caused extensive damages in buildings and caused lives and injuries. Thirteen days after, on October 29, a stronger earthquake hit Mindanao again from the same epicentre in Tulunan, North Cotabato. Many buildings in Digos, Makilala, and Davao collapsed and many families have lost their homes. A number of people have also died due to landslides and heart attack. Schools were suspended and hospitals have regulated their operations because some some of their facilities are no longer fit for occupancy. Hospital operations have been conducted in gymnasiums and tennis courts. Two days later, another 6.5 magnitude earthquake jolted which eventually collapsed many houses and buildings in many parts of Mindanao, particularly in North Cotabato. Many families have been displaced and many are trapped in their locations because the roads have been blocked by landslides. Thousands of families (approximately 30,000) have been displaced and they are taking temporary shelters in evacuation centres while many others have stayed in their homes. Many of them need food, medicines, clothing, and tents for their temporary abode. Also, water supply has been greatly affected.

I am raising fund because I want to help mitigate the impacts of the series of strong earthquakes. I am a victim myself but there are many more Mindanaoans who are terribly debilitated by the events - they have nothing to eat, they do not have clothing, and they need more tents that will serve as their temporary homes. The proceeds of this fundraising will be used to support the government in aiding the rehabilitation process of all displaced families and individuals.
