For the love of softball

Softball is not popular across the country. Maybe because it needs a bigger field to play (as we can see in every barangay we can only fit a basketball court or volleyball court and some for tennis and badminton) and the equipments are ridiculously pricey. However, softball is one of the sports to be competed in Palarong Pambansa and is sports that has attracted a lot of student athletes in our division. Some of these athletes come from athletics and volleyball/basketball and crossing over to softball is one of the decisions that made them fully committed to sports. Such is the case of the softball team of Bontoc National High School where I teach. However, during training and preparation for the Division Meet, we were able to practice using limited equipment. Most of our gloves are baseball gloves, some of which are mended and sewed, and we borrow catcher's gloves and protective gears and bats from the baseball team as well, thereby limiting our time of practice. I am doing this gogetfunding in the hopes that I will be able to train the team with better equipments as I also plan of adding team members so we can play as two teams for tune ups. I also plan to be using the equipments to train interested students outside of school, out of school youth and other young profrssionals. Softball is a team sports similar to volleyball and basketball in the spirit of sportsmanship. However, I personally believe that unique from all other sports, softball can help an individual to go for the drive, giving everything to win the game despite the strike outs and double plays, makes dreams come true and hit life for a homerun.
