Campaign Story
My lola, Cecile Dominguez, passed away on September 22, 2018, at 11:09PM.
I'm leaving this up until the end of the month for anyone else who'd like to help us with all the expenses.
Thank you again everyone for your help and support. It means a lot to us.

Here was the original description for this fundraiser, for some background:
She was confined in the hospital on September 8, 2018 because of ileus, which is an abdominal obstruction. She had 2 operations before her passing.
Before this all started, she just got discharged 2 weeks ago for pneumonia. But after a week, her stomach started to bloat in an alarming rate. She could not eat, could not sleep, and could not poop. She also complained a lot about pain in her lower abdomen, and gas in her stomach.
She was immediately admitted to the hospital, and the doctor administered NGT, which was a tube that passed through her nose and reached her stomach.
After a day, with no improvement to her condition, the doctor explained that she needed to go through an emergency procedure of colostomy, so that her stomach will be relieved of the toxins in her body. Her system was also slowly crashing down, so time was of the essence.
The risk was high for this operation. The doctor made that very clear. My grandma is already 81, and has a lot of other medical concerns that might affect the surgery. But, if we waited for another day, the risks will go higher. She might not even make it.
Thus, my lola went through with the colostomy on September 9, 2018. After the operation, her vital signs improved, and she was deemed fit for a plain CT scan. But, the doctor also said there was an infection slowly spreading in her body.
The plain CT Scan showed that she had an inflamed appendix, and it had to be removed right away. The doctor was also suspicious that the appendix had already ruptured.
My lola went through her next surgery on September 12, 2018. During the operation, the doctor saw that her appendix was indeed inflamed, but not ruptured. Not satisfied that this was the cause of the infection, he explored some more.
Eventually, he found out that there was a leak in her abdominal cavity. This, he said, was the cause of the infection. They fixed the leak immediately.
---
Hospital bills aren't exactly cheap. Given that she has stayed in the hospital for 10 days, and also went through 2 operations, the cost of these have reached the point where we don't know where to get the money to pay for this anymore.
This doesn't include the doctor's professional fees. She currently has 5 doctors working on her: a pulmonologist, a gastroentologist, a neprologist, a surgeon, and an infectious disease doctor.
Our family isn't wealthy. We can get by, with a bit to spare. But these hospital expenses are rising day by day and we can't keep up with it.
As her apo, I figured I'd set this up to be able to help in some way. It's heartbreaking to see my lola go through this, and I'm also worrying for my mom who is managing all the expenses so far.
Thank you for hearing us out. I hope you can spare even a few pesos to help. Any amount is okay. We need all the help we can get. May God bless you.
