Hanane's Association (AHPAE) is a non-profit organisation - based in Dar Bouazza, Casablanca Maroc. (Morocco)
The association AHPAE works directly on the ground to help the animals on the street against abuse, cruelty and neglect. Hanane works with the public authorities (police, gendarmerie) but also with veterinary advocates for animals.
Morocco has many stray animals and the country as a whole has a long way to go to acheiving a standard that some countries take for granted. They are trying through education and kind people willing to help we hope to acheive this some day soon.
Our goal is simple - to help those that have no voice and give them the basic requirement that they deserve in life. Shelter, Care and Love. A refuge to call their own.
Our shelter animals are happy and they enjoy rights such as the protection, respect and that citizens have good behavior towards them. For this we make sure that stray animals are fed, cared for and to find if possible a new owner.
To limit the proliferation of stray animals, we perform sterilization campaigns, and we inform and educate citizens about the importance of animals and also its importance sterilization. Our main problem is that we do not have shelter to house and care for all the animals out there - we have to work on the ground and leave some animals in the streets, with the dangers involved. We work with the help of SPANA Morocco, and Casablanca veterinary service, not to mention the help of volunteers and associations abroad.
