Hello, my name is David Marinus Janse. I'm a 20 year old who is not scared to dream but scared to succeed that dream. Why? Because i don't think i can do this on my own. I am planning to go to New york for 2 weeks to gain the experience i need to become a Professional dancer but i don't come from a wealthy family. They can't support me enough i can't support myself either. So that's why i started this fundraising. Please read my story to understand why i want this:
A year ago my dance teacher asked me if i have ever been to New York and i said no. She told me i should go to gain more experience to help me archieve my goal of becoming a Professional Dancer. So we sat around the table and talked about everything that i should know and one thing we talked about was money. If i wanted to stay in New York all by myself for 2 weeks to gain enough experience i needed a lot of money.
As a student i don't have lots of money to fly to New York, Follow every dance class, Pay my hotel room, pay for my food, public transport and Tourist attractions to build more knowledge about New York. To attend auditions and discover the secrets of why people have a 'New York state of' mind. So i did some calculating and as you can see it's a lot.
I really wanted to give up when i looked at the numbers. I didn't want to believe that everything would not work out because of the numbers. So i checked my bank account, how much money i would get every month and how much i had to spent to survive the next month and the months after that. I would spent around 700 Euros for rent, taxes, and insurances and about 200 euros for food that i need to keep my body healthy and strong. I would end every month with 50 euros. Not enough to pay my airplaine ticket. I would not survive a day in New York as a dancer with 50 dollars.
What I need to live for 2 weeks:
For my flight: 500 Dollars
For my stay: 2.200 Dollars
For dance classes at different studios (Including Master Classes, Workshops, Guest Teachers): 700 Dollars
Food to stay Alive & Healthy (No Fast Food): 500 Dollars
Public Transport: 150 Dollars
Tourist Attractions to expend my knowledge about New York: 400 Dollars
In Total: 4500 Dollars!
THE REASON WHY I WANT THIS:
Now i ask you if you want to help me. I have a job but i don't earn enough to have 4500 Euros by the end of july 2020. So i could really use your help, love and support! I started dancing when i was 15. I wanted to become a Technical (Ballet, Modern, Jazz) Dancer at the age of 15 but i didn't have any experience to even point my feet, so i decided to change my path in life. I worked everyday on myself to become a better dancer. My mom sacrificed her office so i could dance whenever i wanted to. I cancelled every party. I lost most of my friends because they wanted me to hang out with them but i wanted to dance and to learn more about The renaissance and Martha Graham. Dance gave me the freedom to be who i want to be. My foster Mom and Dad payed for my dance classes, they drove me around to every competition and picked me up. They really where there for me and still are. They still have my back but they won't be able to hold it any longer.
I really want to fly to New York. I've always dreamed of the city. Whenever someone said New York i would smile. Like it's a second home to me. A place where i can find meaning and chances. Hope and love. I also want to do this to make my parents proud. They raised me because my biological mother was unfit to take care for me and because my biological father was nowhere to be found. They are the only parents i had and they gave everything to me. Now i want to give it back by showing that their son did not give up even in the darkest days. That the boy they raised is becoming a men. That they can be proud of who they are as parents. Because they are the best! And i would also thank this to the teacher who told me about a city that never sleeps!
Thank you for reading my story. It would mean a lof if you would help me raise money for New York. Every Dollar, Euro, Penny makes a difference and brings me closer to the city that never sleeps!
When i reach my goal i will document the whole trip and put it out on the internet so more people can see it and hopefully it wil inspire others to dream big as well!
