FIGHT GBS, FIGHT FOR LIFE!

Mark Francis is currently confined in an ICU in Makati Medical Center due to GBS. Guillain-Barre syndrome is a rare but serious autoimmune disorder in which the immune system attacks healthy nerve cells in your peripheral nervous system. This leads to weakness, numbness, and tingling. It can eventually cause paralysis. This syndrome attacks only 1 out of 100000 people. On thursday morning, July 29, Francis complained of doubling of vision associated with nasal quality of voice (ngongo) and difficulty in swallowing. We had him checked in a nearby hospital. We were asked to request for a CT scan which we did the day after, friday. After the CT scan, we have observed unusual and excessive weakness in him and the symptoms got worse. We then decided to take him to two local hospitals but they cannot fogure out what was wrong. We were very much bothered with his status at that time because he was really extremely weak. We rushed him then to one of the well known hospitals in the city to secure his safety. Moments after our arrival, his oxygen level dropped rapidly. Minutes after, the doctors told us that he needs to be admitted and confined in an ICU and needs to take an antibody called "immuniglobulin". He needs to take 5 of such which costs P105,000 each. Aside from the antibody, we also will be charged for the emergency care, usage of ICU which was P6500 per day, medical equipments and supplies, other medicines and antibiotics, doctor's fee and other medical expenses.were told to expect to receive a bill worth more or less 1M not including the rehabilitation for physical therapy after the admission. We admit that we will not be able to raise such grand amount in a short time. That's why we are appealing to your benevolent heart for any financial assistance that you can share.
