At the end of the run

The half marathon has great fun, as crazy as that sounds, and I am feeling very smug and most importantly relieved it is all over! Thank you so much to everyone that has sponsored. It means a great deal to me and i feel very lucky to have received a lot of support. x

Festus is now going into his 3rd year at Lusaka University and continues to do very well in his Bio Medicals Course. His hope of one day becoming a Doctor to serve his local community is getting closer! He will be graduating in 2016.

Festus spent the summer months back on the Copperbelt gaining work experience at Nchanga hospital which he enjoyed a great deal.

Festus had a few issues with his laptop which have now been fixed thanks to Dr and Mrs Pandey and we thank them both for their continued support to Festus on a daily basis.

We congratulate Festus on passing all his year exams.  He has just completed his two month work experience at a clinic in Chingola on the Copperbelt.  When he was in Chingola he stayed with his extended family.  Melanie Bousfield kindly supplied him with a dongle for his lap top and Nicky Cuturi met up with Festus to hand over transport money.  Festus was most grateful for their kindness. He is now back in Lusaka ready to start his third year at UNZA (second year medicine).  He is sharing accommodation with a young man who is studying to become a Bachelor of Nursing. Festus keeps in regular contact with Dr and Mrs Pandey, who are very helpful to him in Lusaka.  He emailed me on Sept 9 and said: 'Thank you for all the help you have been giving me and my appreciation cannot be complete without thanking Mrs Pandey, Mr Cutler and all the sponsors.  May I simply say, may the good Lord bless you in a big way.' The Festus Fund needs £3000 per year to keep Festus at university.  All donations are gratefully received, however small.

Great news, we have managed to raise enough funds to buy a second hand laptop for Festus which was kindly arranged by Dr and Mrs Pandy of Lusaka Teaching Hospital. Dr Pandy has been showing Festus how to use it.

Festus wrote his final exam for this academic year on the 20th May and is awaiting his results. During the university vacation he is returning to the Copperbelt to work in a local clinic as a volunteer in order to gain experience. We would like to thank everyone that has contributed so far to helping with his education costs and realising his dream of becoming a surgeon. We wish Festus all the best in his upcoming results for this year.  Even the smallest contribution is most gratefully received and I am sure you agree what a worthy cause this is.

Hi Fetus - When I donated to you earlier in the year I promised I would put you on my Christmas List. It is only a small amount but I am sure you will make good use of it for your studies. Happy Holidays to you and I hope all is going well with University and life. AngelBobb
