Helping Syrian refugees in Istanbul rebuild their lives through community, education and ping pong.
FATTAL(“home” in Arabic) is an all-volunteer, non-political, non-religious community center for Syrian refugees in Istanbul. As part of our mission to build community, Ad.dar offers language classes, social and cultural activities where everyone is welcome. Aside from our regularly scheduled activities, our community center also provides a space where all are welcome to gather, share information, keep Syrian culture alive, and, of course, challenge someone to a game of ping-pong.
FATTAL (“home” in Arabic) is an all-volunteer, non-political, non-religious community center for Syrian refugees in Istanbul.
FATTAL’s main objective is to provide the tools to Syrian refugees in Istanbul to rebuild their lives with dignity after the trauma of war and displacement.
Through our education programs, we help children, youth and adults to return to their education. For this purpose, it has provided advanced linguistic and university preparation education and support along with basic linguistic education for the improvement of livelihood opportunities for Syrian refugees.
FATTAL also holds regular workshops to mentor Syrians with their resumes and applications and to help them understand their rights in Turkey.
Weekly workshops for children provide a place to allow children to play, socialize, and enjoy the freedom to be a child.
Through cultural events, such as Friday film evenings, poetry readings, concerts, cooking club and community meals, Ad.dar brings together Syrian, local and international communities, which makes FATTAL a shared place of solidarity to keep Syrian culture alive.
