F1 In Schools 2018 National Finals

Lumière Racing is a team of 4 students from Kolej PERMATApintar Negara, the only gifted and talented centre in Malaysia. On 17-20 October 2018, we will be representing Selangor in the F1 in Schools 2018 National Finals.

Our school, Kolej PERMATApintar Negara is well-known for our achievements in F1 in Schools competition. We have won at least one award every year. We, Lumière Racing, are a new team and hope to continue our school's legacy and achieve greater heights.

F1 in Schools is an international STEM competition, in which groups of 3–6 students have to design and manufacture a miniature F1 car out of the official F1 Model Block using CAD/CAM design tools. The cars are powered by CO₂ cartridges and are attached to a track by a nylon wire.

However, as a high school student, our team is lacking money for the expenses for our car. We need the money to manufacture our car such as buying aluminium wheels, stainless steel bearing, carbon axle and to air brush our car which overall cost us around USD 600 (RM 2500). We also have to design and order our team's attire which includes a corporate shirt and a team's shirt which will cost us around USD 360 (RM 1500). Other than that, we have to build our own pit display which will costs us around USD 480 ( RM 2000) to display our miniature cars and portfolios. The printing cost of our 6 portfolios is around USD 72 (RM 300). Including other aspects such as the accommodation and merchandise, the estimated total budgets needed by our team is around USD 2000 (RM 7500).

The funds raised are crucial to help us win this competition. It will be used in all aspects of the competition such stated above.

The competition will be held around 17 until 20 October 2018 at the Amanjaya Mall, Sungai Petani, Kedah. So we really hope that we can get donations and sponsors as soon as possible as we need to proceed with the preparation for the competition next month.
