Campaign Story
A google search will show that a "rainbow baby" is a name coined for a healthy baby born after the loss of another baby. The use of the word rainbow comes from the idea of a rainbow appearing in the sky after a storm or after a dark and turbulent time (source: healthline.com).
Everly is a rainbow baby to our family. Her older brother Luke was born at only 23 weeks and we were fortunate enough to be with him for 20 days. He passed away due to intestinal complications and severe prematurity, leaving gaping holes in my wife's heart and mine. These holes got slightly filled with my wife's pregnancy 7 months after the loss of our first child. Despite close monitoring, regular consultations with a high-risk OB, and even doing a cerclage operation to close up my wife's cervix, we found ourselves in the hospital 24 weeks into the pregnancy with the risk of another pre-term labor. We thank God that Everly was able to stay for another 3 weeks inside Jem's womb and was born at 27 weeks and 3 days. This is still far from the full term of at least 37 weeks, and it required her to have an extended stay in the hospital's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Yes, NICU again. But this time's situation was more hopeful and we thank God that Everly did not have any major complication. Doctors said she's a grower meaning that we were really just waiting for her to gain more weight so that she can maintain her body temperature and learn to feed without the help of any apparatus. Yes, we were familiar with living the NICU life, but one thing we lacked was the finances to keep up with the accumulating costs each passing day. We initially did not want to put up another fund-raising site because we already did one for our situation with Luke last year and a lot of people helped already. We are embarrassed to do it again this time, but after several credit card swipes and a number of loans already, I admit that our small family has once again reached our limit and we would like to gently knock on your hearts for help in order to pay the remainder of our hospital bill. Please know that we understand that you have your own expenses and battles that you are facing, and even as you read this and cannot donate at the moment, we are still very grateful for the prayers and well-wishes that you send our way. Thank you so much, and may God bless you and your families!
This site allows credit card donations via PayPal, but if you prefer a bank transfer, please use the details below. If it's not too much to ask, please drop us a note so that we'll know how to contact you to express our gratitude.
