Yo can help us to keep Escuela de Circo Batz alive!
Escuela de Circo Bat'z was the first circus school in Guatemala when it opened in 2016, and this year almost 100 students and teachers from 5 - 40 years old assists or teach the different classes in the arts of new circus, aerial dance and contemporary dance, on a variety of levels. This wonderful school, which for everyone involved, is much more than a place to learn the circus arts, it is also a place where ideas, creativity and cultures are exchanged (through national and international exchanges). We really are a big family that all have love for each other, the circus and diversity. Not only are classes received and taught, but several times a year shows are presented at the school, presentations of what the students have learned, variety shows by the teachers together with former students and with invited national and international artists, often on exchange at the school.
Escuela de Circo Bat’z doesn’t receive any financial support from anyone, and only survives on the participation fees from the students and altruistic teacher that only charges a minimum to teach, and sometimes we earn a little bit of money from the shows that we put on. Right now we don’t have any kind of income due to the huge temporary crisis that we all are experiencing around the world, we are not allowed to be open and we cannot put on any kind of shows, so are funds are getting close to zero.
So, if you could help us to pay our regular costs until we are able to open our school again, we would be forever grateful. Our monthly costs are around 18,800 Quetzals (around US$ 2,350), where most of it goes to pay for the rent, the teachers and the receptionist. The one thing that is not shown in the costs below are the grants that we give to several of our students so that they can afford to attend the classes.
