Empower Local Fishery

I am born in a small fishing village in Kuala Selangor. My parent and most of my relatives are working in the fishing industry either as a fishmonger or fishermen. Hence, since young I got to eat a lot of fresh seafood. During my tertiary education, I was lucky to get a scholarship abroad and were exposed to different culture and their local seafood. Although I do enjoyed their seafood but at the same time I started to appreciate more of our own local fish variation. I also slowly grew to learn more about what other countries been doing to protect and preserve their marine environment. After graduation, I started to work in Kuala Lumpur and been deprived of fresh seafood.I also discovered that there were many things which have changed back in my hometown. Due to high demand in certain fish types, some of the fishes have reduced significantly in population in our sea. Due to this factor, some of the time, we will need to imports high in demand fishes to Malaysia from our neighboring countries while our less in demand local fishes were exported out. This will reduces the freshness of the seafood as the time for the fishes to reach it consumer have increases due to the longer distance and lack of freezing technology.

Looking at all these issue we are facing, I decided to do something to change the current scenario.
