Elsa is the sweetest and toughest Bali pup - she is only a few months old and has already had such a hard life. After a few days of seeing her hiding in the field across from our villa, she came up to us for some food and water. Immediately we noticed her injured leg, infected skin, and she barely had any fur. She ate and drank a little then retreated back to her hiding spot in the field. The next morning, we heard crying at the front door of the villa - and it was Elsa. We brought her inside, fed her and gave her water, and held her until our wonderful vet could come pick her up to examine her.

Elsa's condition was worse than we thought. After a thorough examination and x-rays our vet diagnosed her with a dislocated hip, a fractured pelvis, parasitic blood infection, as well as demodectic mange and severe skin infection. Her hip dislocation would require Femoral Head Ostectomy surgery to give her the best chance at walking and running. Our vet said the most likely cause of these injuries was her being hit by a car or motorbike. Her pelvis was crushed during the accident and yet she was still able to hobble around to survive for somewhere around two to three weeks in immense pain.

Elsa was hospitalized for a week, during which she had her corrective hip surgery. She also received her first vaccinations, medications and treatments for her skin, and was also sterilized. Elsa will need veterinary care in the upcoming months to ensure that she recovers from surgery and to prepare her for the wonderful life she deserves.

We've watched Elsa improve every day she's been back home with us. She is beginning to run and play with our other two rescue Bali pups, though sometimes her run becomes a bit of a hop as she picks up her healing leg. Her fur is growing back slowly, but she truly looks better every day. She is such a sweet girl and loves pets, her pillow bed and naps, and being in a place that she can call home.

Jean-Mario and I rescued her, and were happy to cover her medical bills, whatever the cost. However, we have had an influx of family and friends asking how to help, and wanted to set up a way for anyone interested to help. We are so thankful for the donations we have received, and appreciate any future help.

*Any funds raised over the cost of her medical bills will be donated to local rescue groups here in Bali - we are so happy to have rescued the dogs we have, but there are thousands of dogs in Bali that are in need of rescue, medical attention, and loving homes.

I AM CURRENTLY EXPERIENCING ISSUES WITH PAYPAL, I WILL POST WHEN RESOLVED BUT PLEASE FEEL FREE TO SEND FUNDS VIA VENMO ( @Dana-Hollinger ) FOR THE TIME BEING. THANK YOU.
