Friends of Egypt for Upper Egypt’s Development

Hello Everyone! Winter is here and it brings along with it cold weather and unbearable living conditions for many needy families especially in Upper Egypt. Too many families comprised of orphans, young children, widows, divorcees and elderly members are without the proper means to keep warm and dry this winter.

PHOTO: Many children in Upper Egypt are not sent to school because they parents cannot afford to buy food to prepare lunches for them.

Many of those families don't even have proper housing or roofs to keep the water and cold out.

The government has upscaled its effort to provide better healthcare, housing, education, and infrastructure for all of Egypt and especially the least developed cities and Governorates while also investing much of the nation's resources towards providing for a safe and secure Egypt. They have made great progress but the government cannot work alone to provide for the millions of people in need.

It is essential for civil society, individuals and the private sectors to partner with the public sector to ensure that no Egyptian is left behind in our nation's ambitious development strategy.

We are asking for your help to provide for some of the most basic needs for some of the neediest families in Upper Egypt. Let's work together towards the development of Upper Egypt. Here are the options:

PHOTO: Fatma is a divorcee in Luxor who bakes Shamsi Bread and sells it to feed her children since her ex-husband does not provide any financial support. Her entire family share one small room.

$9 will buy one winter blanket for a needy individual including widows & elderly.

$30 will install running water in one home in Upper Egypt.

$115 will provide 75+ families with basic food supplies like rice, pasta, oil, flour, tea and sugar.

$200 will build a proper roof in one home for a needy family.

$250 will build a bathroom in one home

$500 will help cover the cost of a wedding for a needy couple

$1,000 will help cover some of the costs associated with furnishing a home for a new bride & groom. This includes purchasing some furniture, and appliances.

The aid is for all of Upper Egypt from Fayoum to Aswan. You can also specify the city or Governorate that you prefer.
