Donkey and horse rescue need 4×4 vehicle to continue outreach and sanctuary work

Walk with Donkeys Sanctuary Crete has been rescuing and helping working donkeys, horses and mules for over 12 years. The sanctuary is in a remote off road situation and most horses and donkeys needing help are also in inaccesible places

But there’s a problem

The old trustwortthy jeep that helped the sanctuary for over 12 years has finally died. This vehicle and horse trailer rescued many donkeys and horses and was used to collect bales of hay and animal feed. This jeep was needed to drive to areas of the sanctuary not accessible by ordinary car.

Without this vehicle the sanctuary are unable to reach countless horses and donkeys that live in remote off road situations.

Here’s what we’re doing about it

We are going to buy a decent second hand truck or jeep for the Walk with Donkeys Sanctuary. With your help and donations, the sanctuary will again be able to help the local people with their sick donkeys. They will be able to visit horses who are reportedly abandoned in remote locations. The sanctuary will again be able to function as planned and fulfil its mission to help equines.

Vehicles are expensive in Crete! Research shows that a half decent reliable 4x4 jeep or truck would cost up to 9000 euros. Your generosity will be saving the lives of many donkeys and horses in the mountainous areas of Crete.
