I am currently volunteering with Nicole in Langkawi, Malaysia - she has made it her mission to rescue and rehome as many of the local strays as possible.
She has had much success so far but still has 8+ beautiful dogs that need happy loving forever homes.
Obviously caring for these dogs comes at a cost. Aside from the standard food and general care there is also the vet bills for spaying and neutering and vaccinations and microchipping which Nicole takes on at her own expense.
We are also hoping to extend the fence around the property - as you can imagine 13 dogs need plenty of space and this requires materials and labour.
We have one beautiful girl who may have a loving overseas home to take her but it is dependant on funding to get her there safely.
A more grand goal for the future is that Nicole hopes to create a more permanant and much bigger sanctuary (a dog island) for the strays of Langkawi and beyond.
Life on the streets can be tough for dogs here, and taking on not just the emotional but also the financial responsibility for these dogs is tough for those who choose to.
Any little contribution is appreciated and will go towards keeping some pups happy, healthy and homed.
