To all our generous contributors. Thank you so very much.
We have been exploring multiple funding sources along with this crowdfunding campaign. Unfortunately we have been unable to come up with the funding we need from other sources. We are therefor considering the option that we may not reach the amount we need in order to travel to North Dakota.
However, we ask that you consider that your contributions may go towards the group of Sami artist already traveling to North Dakota; Sara Marielle Gaup Beaska, Inger Biret Kvernmo Gaup and Maret Sofia Jannok. They have all paid out of their own pocket for their expenses and their funds are low. So we humbly ask if your donation may go towards helping them reach the standing rock camp.
We understand this was not the original terms of the campaign, so there will be no hard feelings if you find that this is not a good option for you.
All funds will be returned to those who wish it.
please contact me at [email protected] and let me know your decision. No explanation is necessary. simply make the title YES or NO.
We thank you sincerely for your generosity and help.
Tuula & Andreas
We need your help to travel to North Dakota, in order to document the historic meeting between the Sami, the indigenous people of northern Europe, and the standing rock sioux, uniting in the struggle against the Dakota Access Pipeline.
In effort to show solidarity and to add support in the struggle against the Dakota Access Pipeline, a group of Sami artist are traveling to Standing Rock, Sacred Stone Camp.
Close to no attention has been given by mainstream media to what has now become a historic and unprecedented gathering of indigenous people from across north america, unified in defense of water, land and air, against the threat posed by the black snake, The Dakota Access Pipeline. Growing from 200 people to approx. 8000 in a matter of weeks, some 280 tribe are now gathered in Standing Rock.
Sara Marielle Gaup Beaska, Inger Biret Kvernmo Gaup and Maret Sofia Jannok are traveling to North America, represent the support of the Sami people, the indigenous population of Northern Norway, Sweden, Finland and Russia.
This need to be documented.
We, Tuula Sharma Vassvik and Andreas Daugstad Leonardsen, are asking your help in raising funds so that we may travel from Norway to North Dakota, in order to document this historic meeting.
This meeting is taking place in only a few days, so this call is an urgent one. But with your support we will succeed in lending our help to the group. We will be able to gather invaluable material that will aid in the further proliferation and strengthening of this global movement to defend the land against destruction.
Due to the time constraint, it is best if you make your contributions through paypal.
In case we are unable to meet our finacial goal, we will return all contributions to our supporters.
Tuula Sharma Vassvik is a student at the Arctic University of Norway, in the masters program of Indigenous Studies, and Andreas Daugstad Leonardsen is a filmmaker and visual artist. Our task would be to document the Sami delegation and to record their meetings, performances and experiences shared with the Standing Rock Tribe and other land defenders.
