The Story

Peculiar relationships is documentary filming the hard survival and life of tiny fish, called smelt, living in lake Rāznas located somewhere in Latvia. The life of whole ecosystem in this big lake depends on healthy population of this salmonidae specie. We'll try to show in this film how vulnerable is this balance in nature and how whole food chain could collapse if this fish becomes extinct in this lake. Waters are important on our planet and we aim to keep audience informed, how diverse and unique is freshwater world. Film is trying to create the lifestory of this little fish, living in dangerous conditions with dramatic footages of predator attacks such perches and gulls, connecting it with problems and advantages of living in this habitant - big lake with almost crystal clear water visibility. 4 seasons. 4 different water conditions. 4 different heroes. What We Need is:

For this story to become real we are in need of 38 010 bucks, or 35000 euros. (Sums might vary, as currency rates might change, as campaing launch is in force from middle of June 2023. All costs are counted and sumed on 23.06.2023 in Latvia)

• Importante: Fuel 3660 km's - 700 bucks. Stay under the roof - at least 30 days, 1100 bucks. Boat rent- 300 bucks. Car usage fees - 2000 bucks
• Project coordination and administration, production- 10000 bucks.
• Filming, editing and post production fees - 12000 bucks.

Alltogether: 36200 $ or 33000 eur.

Introduction

Hello, Folks!

Hope You are doing well and looking for some new chapter in Your life, so as do I. My name is Fjodors Ivanovs, I am 39 years old chap from small country in Europe- Latvia. I do have huge background in managing, also I have have been as co-founder in some projects related to business fields such e-commerce, forestry etc. But during my whole life I liked creativity and art.

I am passionate about fishing too. I stepped up to next level and enjoyed writing for fishing magazine about different ways on how to target and catch predatory fish in Latvian rivers and lakes in 2021-2023. As it is very specific hobby, it requires some in depth research and renewable experience, as waters are challenging, as usual and they change day by day.

In 2015, I was inspired by invitation from my friend for some good reason, at Rāznas lake, as it is called in latvian language, there in Latvia. I love this place. In a matter of time, me and my friend developed understanding of the secrets of underwater life there and...I have a dream. Since 2019, step by step, the whole picture came up in to my head and in 2022 I had no doubt, that I should start my campaign to raise funds and make a film about underwater life as dedication to this beautiful place.

Risks and challenges:

If...

If it is an epic fail and online and offline campaigns do not meet the goal, production will continue as planned anyway. The remaining amount will be funded by me and relatives probably. However, it will likely affect the filming and post production time, as the active filming period is short and might be postponed till the end of summer in 2024+editing, so ready to be presented product could be estimated in January 2025 or even April/May 2025.

Filming risks..

Due to weather conditions and other nature related obstacles, filming might be disrupted and postponed.

But..

If we succeed in this campain with Your help then we could order and rent necessary equipment and move fast, film as much as we can till the middle of October 2023. Then whole editing process would take us a while plus short spring filming session in April, May and August 2024 and edit - film might be ready by October 2024.

All funds for this film will contribute to both production fees and post production fees, including color correction, sound mixing and design, as well as music and editing in general.

I have this vision and I gained trust from experienced people connected to filming industry in Latvia, that this idea is different, original and interesting. It is my first, hopefully, not least project, as I do like to share with You my view on processes in nature and around us in this world. Any support would be deeply appreciated in my heart and would give me a hope, that we are not done with this yet and there is still much to come...Film would be with narrative in english, with educational purpose also, as biology scientist would consult and give us advices on how to explain all in detail in film.
