Dementia ill parent

Hello everyone,

I hope everyone seeing this will somehow relate to my story, as I know there are many people in similar situation like mine. My name is Ellie, recently I have lost my job due to a health issues in the UK and at the same time my father has been diagnosed with dementia. I am not going to lie it was a big emotional shock for me and I got depressed and ill physically. The only exit I could see from this is to be next to my mum and help her with whatever I can for the care of my dad. I went back to my home country Bulgaria to get my mind and body healed simultaneously, I wanted to put in place a system, a routine for both of them to be easier while caring for him.

Well long story short, that didn’t happen, I am 5 months here and my father illness has progressed so much that the pills he is taking doesn’t help anymore. Moreover he refuses to drink them and eat properly, so we thought our other option is to send him to a care home facility for demented patients. Unfortunately, the government here do so little for people suffering from this illness and their families that it is very unlikely we will be able to find him a place in a government home. The only option for us is a private care home, we can afford to pay the first month but of course me without a job at the moment and my mum wage is not enough for this fee. I am looking to change my situation and find a job and return to the UK, but as all of you knows Covid-19 pandemic made lives to many people more complicated.

So, I have decided to ask anyone who have experienced similar events in their life or just sympathise, anything will be of help. Additionally to that, I have decided to train for a 5K charity run somewhere in the UK when they will be allowed and run for more research to be done for Dementia/Alzheimer illnesses.
