Dance jazz on international competitions!

Hello everyone! My name is Alexandra Demchenko, I’m 24, I’m from Saint-Petersburg, Russia, and I’m a dancer.

I’m dancing and exploring authentic jazz dance.

I am dancing authentic jazz for about 5 years. I am teaching authentic jazz since 2016. In addition I work as a choreographer. For my groups of students and for myself I’ve created 12 dance performances. I also participate in dance contests in Russia. This year I’ve enrolled at Russian State Academy of ballet named after A. Vaganova for “Artistic practices of contemporary dance”course. This is a huge success for me.

What are my goals for a lifetime?

I want to be a choreographer, to create dance performances based on authentic jazz and contemporary dance, and to teach authentic jazz all over the world. I belive that people change their lives through the dance, and I want these changes to keep happening.

So what can I do for making my dreams come true? What problems do I have?

For now I’m not a part of global world of jazz dance. No one knows me. Art is communication between people. I know you understand that It’s important for artist, to have an audience, to be in touch with people. For now I'm out of it. As my dance in out of communication, it will die.

So what can I do for reaching my goals? I can take part in international competitions and share my dance and my vision of it. Nowadays you can join international dance scene on particular jazz festivals. And I need to go there. To make a name. To make myself visible for audience. To recieve feedback. And it would be a big step forward to become an international teacher and performer in the future.

I chose three dance festivals in Europe, which have dance battles in my style and performance contests. I want go there, visit lessons and workshops, participate in contests and battles.

For these trips I need 3500 EUR. This money would be used to pay festival pass and camp fees, road, hostel, food and costume. You can find the whole project of expenses in PDF.

I’m a dance teacher and I student, so my incomes are very low. I can't afford my dream. But may be your help will bring it to life!

This investment allow me to make a huge jump to my goals, my dreams. I have one life only, I have a talent and a lot of power to work on it. That’s what I’m already doing for several years, working. I don’t want let myself down because of money.
