Lago de Linya is situated on 148 acres of beautiful land in the heart of Solsona, its ravishing landscape is second only to its balmy climate. Known to locals as the “Land of the Sun,” this charming medieval village centers harmoniously around a lush valley boasting a large lake of crystal clear water and centered by an abandoned rectory. It is our mission to transform the old clergy house into a Bed & Breakfast.

The idea to develop a bed and breakfast originated with a survey of the location surrounding the rectory. Thrilling views of the unspoiled Pyrenees Mountains, surrounds the site of the future B&B which will allow travellers to embrace the traditions and cultural heritage of Spain.

Legend has it that Leonardo Da Vinci spent a significant amount of time in Lago de Linya during his travels. Stories describe how Da Vinci was inspired by the Sacrament of Pere Teixidor, previously located in the Chapel of Santa Linya Constanca, to create the Last Supper of 'Santa Maria delle Grazie' in Milan. This theory is supported in José Luis Espego's book: ‘Los Mensajes Ocultos de Leonardo Da Vinci’. Therefore, not only will the B&B thrive on the inspirations of Leonardo Da Vinci’s quest for his next masterpiece, it will sport his name as well.

We want to create a bed and breakfast experience that, first and foremost, gives our guests the sense of living during the times of Leonardo Da Vinci. In fact, Da Vinci’s B&B will display the traditional style of Catalan construction with a décor inspired by the works of Da Vinci.

A thermal infinity pool will be constructed in a central garden with a full view of the Pyrenees Mountains. Guests can sit back, relax, and enjoy the spectacular view of a starry night, and in the morning, enjoy a delightful breakfast on the patio overlooking the Valley of Lago De Linya.

Throughout your stay at Da Vinci's Bed and Breakfast, our representatives will certainly advise you on a number of local attractions and activities with our primary goal of benefiting the Catalan Pyrenees community by promoting local tourism.

Lake Sant Ponç (6km)

The Sant Ponç Reservoir, originally built between 1949 & 1954, is a reservoir situated in the center valley of the river Cardener, which was created by a dam located in the municipality of Clariana de Cardener. This lake is most suitable for camping, kayaking, canoeing, fishing, swimming, pick-nicking, and much more. Solsona (16km)

Just 16 km from Lago De Linya, you will be treated to an intimate view of Solsona. There you will learn about the mysteries of the city and its legends, which will take you from the bottom of a forgotten church well to the top of the bell tower (almost). And you will understand why the people of Solsona are proudly known as the Matarrucs – "the donkey killers."

• Solsona is part of Catalonia, Spain, in the province of Lleida. It is a walled city with a population of about 9,000. A walk through past the old walls will reveal the Old Town (Nucli antic) with its narrow streets and charm, where you can begin to learn the secrets of this historic city. Around every corner you can find interesting architectural elements, each constructed out of particular stone which can only be found in the area.

Historical Sites & Rock Exploration

The customary, rural Catalan way of life is still very much intact throughout the area. Our Masia’s history can be traced back to about the 14th century and much earlier. Further, exciting historical locations can be found from ancient cathedrals and churches, to diverse battle sites dating back to the 1st Century (A.D).

"Nowadays, the Church is still in use for Misses and Weddings. Around the area, many expeditions are frequently hold to explore diverse rock formations, fossils and even dinosaur footprints in the area, as a result of tectonic plates shifting which has been going on for millennia."

Cardona (12km)

Cardona sits at the foot of its castle and the Sant Vicenç collegiate church. The Mediterranean crops grown on its limestone soil make way for Pyrenean landscapes abounding in beech and conifer forests. The village, with its charming arcaded streets, is mostly devoted to mining. It is also the setting for one of Catalonia's most picturesque fairs, known as the Corre de Bou, which takes place in purpose-built arenas in Plaza de la Fira on the last Sunday in September.

Main sights of Cardona

The Castle of Cardona. A true citadel standing on a mound (589 m), the golden silhouette of the castle dominates the village and offers marvellous views over the Salt Mountain. Rebuild in the 18C, today, it houses the parador of Cardona, however, has kept some of its 11C elements: the collegiate and the famous Torre de la Minyona (Tower of the Damsel). Tradition has it that this tower, demolished in the 18C, was the prison of Adelaide, daughter of viscount of Cardona.

Sant Vicenç. This collegiate church is one of Catalonia's jewels of Lombard Romanesque art. It was built in 1040 in a stunning setting on an ochre-coloured promontory. The beautiful interior boasts graceful columns crowned with groined vaults which act as supports for the barrel-vaulted central nave. Also worthy of note are the crypt and, in front of the church, a charming 16C Gothic cloisters.

• Montaña de la Sal, Cardona Salt Mine. Has been exploited since Romans times and is 170m mountain with many salt deposits. This is a unique geological phenomenon: when salt crystallises in its galleries (some are 1,000m deep), large transparent stalactites and stalagmites form. Visiting one of the galleries will take you into a magical world.

Activities in Port del Comte (38km)

Port del Comte (50min): Port del Comte's ski resort is located in the Port del Comte mountain range, in the pre-Pyrenees, at the north of the Serra de Querol, in Catalonia, Spain. It is considered to be one of the most beautiful areas of the Pyrenean foothills of Catalonia. One of the resort’s main draws is its close proximity to the main towns of Catalonia as for instance Lago de Linya, Solsona and Cardona. We most certainly advise our guests to spend a day in Port del Comte enjoying activities such as snowboarding, skiing, golf and more.
