Who Am I and what I do:
Hello, I am Georgia Loizou, I am 26 years old and I am an architect with a fascination and a great love for arts. I am currently working in an architectural office in Cyprus. I have studied Art design and Architecture at University of Huddersfield and I have graduated in 2014. In 2014 until 2015, I was doing my practice in an architectural office in Cyprus without getting paid. In order to be able to earn some money I was working part-time in a coffee shop and on my free- time, I was working on my art pieces. At 2015 I started my two years Master in Architecture (MArch 2) and I graduated from University on June of 2017.
How Architecture and Art are combining:
Architecture has to do with materials, environment, lighting, texture, sustainability and ergonomics. Is a profession that explores a variation of forms, materials and methods through a creative process. The relationship between art and architecture is similar to action and reaction. My love and fascination about arts helped me on my architectural degree but also my studies helped me improved as an artist.
My passion for arts and design in general was obvious from a young age. From the age of 5 I was taking art classes and I was experimenting with different types of paints and various techniques. I am a really passionate and committed person; I love exploring while I am getting lost in the process of creation. From each piece I am able to learn and evolve not only as an artist but also as a person.
Few things about my art and inspirations so you will get to know me though my work:
My inspiration changes according to my feelings and experiences. On the other hand, movement could be noticeable in all of them. For me motion is a key word; Sometimes can be elegant and airy and sometimes can be wild and aggressive. It is a simple word can be differentiated and can even be used for things that are opposite. That is the main reason that I find myself fascinated and thrilled from this word. As a result, my art it is driven and affected by that!
Usually, for my art pieces I choose to use a variety of techniques and materials. As a result, Textures, colours, materials, smoothness and glossiness are the details that give each art piece and new dimension and character. The colour pallet changes according to the ideas and feelings that I want to pass. Sometimes, the incompatibility of the paints is what makes it unique and precious.
For a year now, I am working both in an architectural practice and on my paintings. I have already created several art pieces and different people found my work interesting and worth to buy. Each painting has a piece of my soul. For an artist, the recognition of its work and its efforts are important but what really matters is to be able to transmit everything that he wants to say and the feelings that he wants to pass through with the image that he has created.
At the moment I am staying with my parents and I use my bedroom as a workshop. That is not very comfortable and makes everything more complicated. So, there is a need to finally create a workshop which can accommodated everything and be inspiring and comfortable. People who are that passionate about something can understand the struggle to keep working on what you love without being able to have the facilities /space to do it!
The need of help:
I love sharing my work with others but what I love more is a piece that I have created to become part of a ‘new’ home and people enjoy it every day, lifting up the spirits of their new owners. In order to keep doing that I will need a space and also to buy some more equipment and materials. I am turning to you for help as I hope that you will be able to understand me and feel that what I am doing worth it! A little bit of help from you will not only help me keep working but also will encourage me and support me psychologically. Any amount of your donation will help me rent a space and renovate it according to a workshop need and buy equipment that I have not already bought. I hope you found my work inspiring and worth it!
Thanks for your time!!!
Many thanks and kind regards,
