Currently Guatemala is in a lockdown situation in response to the global Covid19 pandemic. While people the world over are dealing with the effects of this crisis, it is particularly noticeable in developing countries where people were already living below the poverty line.
In our local area of San Jose Peten, Guatemala, we have identified over 1100 families in need of urgent aid in the form of food and basic supplies. These families have lost their livelihoods, and are unable to support their basic needs. They have no savings, and there is no social security. We have approached local and government bodies for help, with no luck. So we have taken matters into our own hands to help these people, and we hope you'll join us.
All donations will be used for buying locally preferred foodstuffs like rice, beans and corn, plus other necessities. It costs around $45 NZD to feed a Guatemalan family of 4 for a week. So even with a small donation, we can make a big difference to someone else.
