Covid-19 food relief program for children in Kenya

After Covid-19 pandemic forced our government to lockdown, most small businesses shutdown and the informal sector, which employs majority of Kenyans, was negatively impacted. This led to layoffs, businesses closing resulting to many people going hungry for many days. Unlike a few countries that provide relief packages to their most vulnerable, poor families in Kenya were left on their own. I've witnessed people in my neighborhood begging for food which made me question my role in society. I have always had a desire to help those who are helpless and vulnerable and this was the time to embrace my calling. We started Givewell Kenya, an initiative, that aims at providing nutritious meals(eggs+potatoes+rice) to poor families in rural parts of Kenya and also in slums found in Nairobi and Mombasa. With funds from well wishes and friends, we've managed to feed at least 100 families and we aim to feed more with little assistance from well wishes from other parts of globe. We can achieve unimaginable progress if we come together as humanity. We can be the last hope for a poor family devastated by hunger and disease. We can transform our world if we lend our helping hands to those who truly need our help and that's why I am counting on you, to help us out a smile on a kid's face.
