Yes that is our baby Cookie. Cookie was diagnosed FIP Occular (Dry Form) on 15th August 2020. FIP stands for Feline infectious peritonitis (FIP) is a viral disease that occurs worldwide in wild and domestic cats. It is caused by a type of virus called a coronavirus, which tends to attack the cells of the intestinal wall. Cookie was first diagnosed when she had her internal scar/bleeding in her left eye. Her other clinical symptoms were lethergy, bleeding gums, on and off fever and she had lost her weight tremendously. She was 1.9 kg when at diagnosed. This FIP is very deadly to cats as it gets worsen day by day if not treated in time.

Cookie hardly moves as she was really weak.

The only treatment for this deadly virus is an anti-viral drug called GS-441524.

Since then, we have been taking her to the vet for GS injection on a daily basis. After 3 days, she regained back her left eyesight and she had been eating back again. Cookie went through 84 days of the first treatment successfully.

On 6th November 2020 (84/84 day), Cookie was diagnosed with Pyometra. When we were about to start her observation period, she had to go through this surgery as Pyometra, required an urgent surgery to remove her ovaries. She was on General Anesthesia when they did the surgery on her.

It was a risky surgery because she had just completed her FIP treatment, and due to that we had to extend her GS for another 30 days. Which makes it all together, 114 Days of GS treatment.

Cookie completed her 114 Days treatment on the 6 December 2020.

We started her observation on 7 December 2020. Unfortunately, it only took 5 days until her FIP symptoms relapse.

Her condition started to get worse and she had lost both of her eye sights. She became very weak and had multiple minor seizures.

It is really heartbreaking to observe from an active playfully kitty the day before to a lethargic condition the day after.
As for the secondary treatment, we need to double the dosage on GS for 60 days.

We knew that this is the only way to get Cookie to fight the FIP for a second time as she had full General Anesthesia during her Pyometra surgery which compromised her immune systems.

Due to our financial constraints, as the dosage increases, we are not able to cope with the treatment. We had spent all our personal savings on Cookie's first treatment and her surgery. GS itself is very expensive. Previously, Cookie started her treatment with 8mg/kg and later to 10mg/kg. With her relapse, we had to start with 15mg/kg. We are now trying to raise a fund for Cookie to give her a second chance to live healthier like before. We are humbly seeking any good hearts out there to help with Cookie's treatment for the next 60 days. 🙏
