My auntie, Consuelo J. Velez, 57 y/o from Philippines. A wife of Mr. terry Velez and a mother of two sons Kennedy and Kerwin Velez. My aunt is a very hardworking mother, strong-willed woman with eagerness to live. She has been actively working on their own sari-sari store unfortunately their monthly income cannot compensate her medical needs.

Last 2002, she underwent Craniectomy due to Meningioma. Operation was successful however after 12 years (year 2014) she was again admitted because of a case of Recurrent, Right Temporal Meningioma. According to her Neuro-surgeon not all tumors have been removed and Radiation therapy was recommended otherwise the next operation could lead to paralysis.

Radiation therapy for 28 cycles went well and so the 2^nd Tumor surgery was done. Aside from the tumor meningioma, she was also suffering from Asthma, Hypertension, Type 2 Diabetes and has gallstones. Which makes it much harder for her to manage her health situation. Medications needed to be taken by her everyday including her maintenance medication for her Tumor management roughly costs P600.00-1000.00 per day.

I cannot elaborate more the things my aunt went through.. I thought she had enough until this year 2018, she was admitted again for the 3^rd time recurrence of Tumor Meningioma. She was scheduled again for operation last July 9,2018. My aunt didn’t have 2^nd thoughts of going to operation again knowing this could prolong her life. Thankfully, her brain surgery was successful.. She was managed at the Coronary Care Unit which caused their hospital bill to blow up minute by minute. Her 19 days stay in the hospital costed up to P680,015.56 of the hospital bill which does not include the professional fees, medical expenses and the likes.

No post-operation complication manifested however, but nobody knew that her kidney’s failing already. Right now, she is in critical condition with a 50:50 chance to survive; but I know she's a fighter. aside from her current condition, she’s also been suffering from Pneumonia and Acute Renal Failure and so Hemodialysis was needed to be done. She was subsequently intubated and hooked to a mechanical ventilator. Hospital medication itself per day roughly costs around P15,000.
