About the Fundraising: Hi dear family and friends! I will be climbing Mt Kinabalu in August 2013 to fundraise for a project called 'Pencils & Papers & Lessons with Love' under Vision Rescue, in conjunction with '500 Projects'. All donations will proceed to the project--I cover my own expenditure for the climb and any transaction fees that might be incurred.
About the Cause: Vision Rescue provides non-formal education and food for children who are not attending school with the aim of transferring them to formal education. This is carried out on custom made school buses which transform into classrooms. (check out the video link on the work Vision Rescue does). The £500 that I aim to raise will provide 2 children in Calcutta with non-formal education and hot-meal for a year. Imagine what an impact that will be to the children and their generations to come!!!
On a Personal Note: Being a Sabahan, climbing Mt Kinabalu (it's in Sabah and it's the highest peak in Southeast Asia) has always been my dream! I finally get a chance to climb it before my joints become rusty! I didn't want it to be merely a box checked off my to-do-list in life, so I decided to climb for a cause greater than myself! As un-sporty and fearful of heights as some of you probably know I am, I need all the support to do this!
Appreciation: Any amount of donation is welcomed. The first 45 people to donate £5.00-£9.99 will receive a mini appreciation card specially designed by me. In addition, a token of appreciation is offered to the first 20 people to donate £10 or more, this will be in the form of a little souvenir from Sabah (i.e. keychain, bookmark, bracelet etc). If possible, I will hand the gifts personally, otherwise, they will be mailed over after I recover from the climb. =)
Rewards
