Campaign Story
Our society is becoming more and more consumeristic. Buy - Use - discard - buy again. This is having a huge environmental impact and is slowly stripping us from our heritage and history.
I love cars! Always have and always will! They are may passion and my hobby. This is why when I found a neglected and abused W126 Mercedes 300se two years ago sitting in a dusty piece of land, undriven I couldn't resist. I had to save her!
I found the owner and had a chat with him. The car has a nice story. It was an embassy car in the UK in the late eighties when the Mercedes S Class was the car to have for dignitaries and ambassadors. It was then brought to Cyprus and sold to a sales guy who drove the car for about 10 years and at the first sign of trouble just left it in a piece of land he has.
After a thorough inspection the list of fixes is exhaustive: an engine rebuild, transmission and drivetrain rebuild, complete suspension overhaul, interior fixes and a full respray.
Over the last two years I have been working on it every chance I get. So far I managed to swap the engine for a used one, not without its troubles mind you (fuel system rebuild needed & full cooling system overhaul also needed), I also did some work on the suspension, fixed the AC system and sorted out most of the electrical gremlins.
Help me get the kind of the road back on the streets!
I will be doing all the work myself and happy to give advice, discuss with other enthusiasts and provide pictures of the progress.
