In 2016 the Church Hill Community Development Group ran a community survey to help better understand the needs of the the local community. Of the numerous responses received, there was an overwhelming trend which highlighted the need for facilities for children in our area, so the quest to construct a community playground was born.
During the course of 2017, the group worked closely with Donegal County Council, and with the support of local councillors, secured a long-term lease for a 2-acre site in the heart of our village and planning permission for development of a community park on this site was granted.
With these permissions in place, the focus turned to funding this project. The group completed a tendering exercise for this project and a preferred contractor has been selected. The budget for this project is in the region of €100k. We have applied for funding for this project through the LEADER programme and were successful in the first round. We eagerly await a final decision in the coming weeks.
HOW YOU CAN HELP...
Match funding is needed for any project. To make The Church Hill Community Playground a reality, we as a local community will need to contribute to the overall cost of the build and to it's ongoing maintenance.
This online platform allows us to accept donations in support of this project from local people and businesses as well as those further afield. People are asked to contribute what they feel comfortable with and there are also opportunities for businesses and individuals to sponsor specific items of play equipment, as detailed in the "Rewards" section. These sponsored items will include an engraved dedication of the sponsors choice.
Each €uro raised here will help make the playground even better! So please give generously and help us put a beating heart back into our beautiful village....!
