Christmas joy for the children with special needs

Christmas is a special and delightful time - bustle in the kitchen, different activities at church, family and relatives coming together, bright decorations, sparkling lights, melodies, songs, and many opportunities to hear about the Child who came to this world as Saviour. People open up and give in to emotions, forgiveness, letting go, giving and receiving. Everyone longs to feel the joy and warmth of this season in their hearts.

Christmas is the chance to come together and join in arms to help others experience the joy and wonder of this celebration.

The Greek island where I live has an elementary school for children with special needs. Often these little ones are outcast and rejected from society. For some of them, such ordinary things as walking or running is the biggest dream in the world. It is my heart’s desire to give love to these children and make them smile. The ones who are outcast and weak, who cannot defend or accept themselves as they are - they can find refuge in Jesus. He has welcomed and loved them from the start.

I live in Naxos island for three years now, and I have always wanted to give joy to these little hearts. However, due to the language barrier, mixed emotions and culture shock in another country, I have not felt strong enough to bring this desire to life. If we join together and succeed to raise funds for this project, I am ready to make the first step for this intention, which is also a deeply personal challenge for me. Total amount needed for this project is 400 Eur, to spend on gifts for children and make some small Christmas program. Any extra donations will be forwarded to families under a financial burden or lonely people on the island.

Cilvēki atveras, tie ļaujas emocijām, tie ļaujas piedošanai un atlaišanai, tie ļaujas došanai un ņemšanai – katrs dziļi sirdī vēlas sajust svētku siltumu un iepriecinājumu.

Ziemassvētki ir vieni no svētkiem, kuros var apvienoties un sadoties roku rokās, dodot citiem svētku brīnumu un iepriecinājumu, atverot pašiem savu sirdi.

Grieķijas salā, kurā dzīvoju, ir īpaša pamatskola, kurā mācās bērniņi ar īpašām vajadzībām, un bieži šie ir tie bērni, kas ir izstumti un atraidīti no sabiedrības. Ikdienišķas lietas, kā staigāt un skriet, kādam no viņiem tas ir vislielākais sapnis uz planētas. Tieši šos bērnus man sirdī ir samīļot un iepriecināt. Tas, kas ir izstumts un vājš, kas sevi nevar aizstāvēt vai pieņemt un iemīlēt līdz galam kāds tas ir – to Jēzus jau ir pieņēmis un mīlējis, un ir vislielākais aizstāvis.

Dzīvoju 3 gadus Naxos salā un esmu vēlējusies iepriecināt šīs mazās sirdis jau pirmajā gadā, bet valodas, emocijas svešzemē un kultūršoka dēļ, neesmu jutusies pietiekoši stipra, lai ietu, runātu un darītu. Ja visiem mums kopā izdosies apvienoties un sakrāt ziedojumus šim projektam, tad šogad speršu soli vienam lielam izaicinājumam arī savā dzīvē. Projektam nepieciešami aptuveni 400.00 euro, kas tiks iztērēti iegādājoties bērniem dāvanas un nepieciešamās lietas, lai īstenotu mazu svētku programmu. Ja ziedojumi pārsniegs iecerēto summu, tad pārējie naudas ziedojumi tiks ziedoti ģimenēm, kam nepieciešama finansiāla palīdzība, lai iepriecinātu viņu mazās atvases vai vientuļiem ļaudīm.
