CHRISTMAS AT CHETI 2019

Hi! As many of you know, I'm going back to Tanzania by the end of this year to volunteer with IVHQ in Arusha. I have been there 2 years ago, in 2017, and I met Cheti orphanage, a place that takes care of 37 kids that for different reasons can't live with their families. It's directed by Zuma, an incredible man who gives everything to run the place and tries to give the kids the lives full of happiness they deserve.

We celebrated Christmas that year, we shared some songs, church time, presents. It represented to me the same than these holidays are at home, a day to share and to live some of the magic that you can only feel on that time of the year, surrounded by people you care and love.

The last few months I have been doing a fundraising here in my country, trying to reach enough money to make this Christmas even more special. My family, friends and also a lot of people I don't know, became sponsors for every kid at Cheti. We bought personalised t-shirts with the phrase ''Shared love Will make us happy'' that they have on a wall at school, and their names on the back. Also, we got them new flipflops and we are going to watch a film at the cinema!

But, we are now trying to get something even more special for these kids! We want to take them to a safari day at a nearby national park (Tarangire). Even when they live really close to the parks, most of them have never been there. It would be amazing to see their faces and smiles meeting the amazing animals that Africa offers! So, we should cover the cost of entrance fee, transportation and 3 adults to take care of them. It would cost almost 20 usd per kid (40000Tshs). So, would you help me to get this Christmas present? 😍

I decided to volunteer abroad one more time because I find the joy and the value of knowing a new place when I share it with someone else. It gets even more special when you are also taking all the people you know with you in your suitcase, in every Christmas present, in all the support I had for this. Every little help is big enough to make this dream come true!

¡Hola! Como muchos de ustedes saben, vuelvo a Tanzania a fines de este año. Estuve ahí hace 2 años, en 2017, y conocí el orfanato Cheti, un lugar que hospeda a 37 niños que por diferentes razones no pueden vivir con sus familias. Su director es Zuma, un hombre increíble que da todo para mantener el lugar e intenta darles a los nenes la vida que realmente se merecen.

Festejamos la Navidad ese año, compartimos algunas canciones, visitamos la iglesia, nos hicimos regalos. Me representó lo mismo que estas fechas en casa, un día para compartir y vivir algo de la magia que solo puedes sentir en esa época del año, rodeado de personas que te importan.
Los últimos meses estuve juntando fondos acá en Argentina, tratando de reunir suficiente dinero para hacer esta Navidad aún más especial. Mi familia, amigos y también mucha gente que no conozco, se convirtieron en padrinos y madrinas de todos los nenes de Cheti. Compramos remeras personalizadas con la frase "El amor compartido nos hará felices" que tienen en la pared de la escuela y sus nombres en la espalda. Además, les compramos nuevas sandalias y ¡vamos a ver una película en el cine!

Pero ahora estamos tratando de conseguir algo todavía más especial. Queremos llevarlos a un día de safari en un parque nacional cercano. Incluso viviendo tan cerca, la mayoría de ellos nunca fue. Se necesita cubrir el costo de la entrada al parque, el transporte y 3 adultos para cuidarlos. Costaría casi 20 usd por nene(40000Tshs) Entonces, ¿me ayudarían a lograr este regalo de Navidad para ellos?

Decidí ser voluntaria una vez más porque encuentro la alegría y el valor de conocer un nuevo lugar cuando lo comparto con alguien más (incluso gente desconocida). Se vuelve mejor cuando también llevas a todas las personas que conocés en la valija, en cada regalo de Navidad, en todo el apoyo que tuve para esto. ¡Toda la ayuda es lo suficientemente importante como para cumplir este proyecto!
