€1,215.00raised of €1,000.00 goal goal
A year ago I was a self-confessed non-runner, but in a moment of madness, I agreed to take part in Toughest, an obstacle course race I can only describe as full-on Viking-level nuts (it was awesome, in case you're wondering). In preparation for the event, I had to learn to run, at least a little bit. So I managed to complete a couch-to-5k programme. Let's just say it wasn't pretty.
Having moved to Cyprus a few months ago and finding that my fitness schedule wasn't quite settling into anything approaching acceptable, I figured I'd set another goal. So, this March, I will be running the Limassol Half-Marathon!
To mark the occasion and make sure this latest lapse in sanity is not in vain, I am raising money for BirdLife Cyprus. The money will go towards the important work that we do for the conservation of birds and nature on this gorgeous island of ours!
So, if you're looking for a good deed, care about nature, or are just tickled by the thought of me trying to convince my legs and lungs that endurance running really isn't that bad, then please donate!
UPDATE 1: The crazy seems to be contagious! I've lured a few of my colleagues and friends to join me in a second challenge: Dorians Challenge, a coastal obstacle course race in April! 5km. 20 obstacles. Salt water. Madness.
UPDATE 2: It's official: I survived my first ever Half-marathon! In 02:05:51. Thank you SO much to all of you who sponsored me! We've surpassed the arbitrary target I set for fundraising - woohoo - so let's raise even more! If you haven't had a chance to donate yet, don't worry, I've extended to fundraiser so you can still do so.
As a thank you for donating, I will send you a birdy pin badge of your choice. This effectively increases your donation by €2 at no extra cost to you. You can view the pin badge catalogue on the BirdLife Cyprus website: http://birdlifecyprus.org/eshop

It's official: I survived my first ever Half-marathon! It was slow, but a better than average pace for me and 'the wall' didn't hit me too hard. I even got some nice little boosts to help me along, including an auspicious Hoopoe fly-by.Thank you SO much to all of you. . . . .

I'll be collecting my race pack in the next few days! Exciting! Training has been going fairly well. I've been putting in the miles, at home and abroad while on work trips, with no major issues or injuries - touch wood. Today I ran my longest training run before the. . . . .
