My name is Oluwayemisi Oyekunle and I am participating in a volunteer program in Ghana through Global Volunteer Network. GVN is a non-governmental organization which places people in a range of opportunities such as teaching or environmental work in a number of countries. I will be working on a community development project in Ghana. With this project I will be working alongside with local staff and orphanage, for 3 months starting in April 2013.
The goal of volunteering in Ghana is to offer underprivileged children a future. We hope to provide children with the basic necessities of life - love, food, clothing and shelter - and also provide them with an education, so they can advance towards the same opportunities as their peers around the world.
During my placement I will be caring for orphans, street children and abused children at an orphanage. I will take on the role of sibling to the children. A relationship that is often taken for granted, but these children are without.
In order to volunteer I will be in need of fund and I have been working hard to raise the funds needed to take up this opportunity to help others. If you are able to help support me financially in some way it would be greatly appreciated.
My program fee to volunteer in the Ghana Program for 3 months is $3,647 US dollars. In addition to this, I need to pay for my airfares, entry visa, vaccinations and insurance. As you can see, volunteering does come at a cost. I would appreciate any donations you can give to enable me to take on the challenge of helping others in less fortunate circumstances than ourselves.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions about the program. I would like to take this time to thank you for considering helping me in this worthy cause. Your financial aid will enable me to participate in an experience which helps communities in need.
Thank you for your anticipated consideration.
