Cebu Typhoon Disaster Relief

Update posted by Jemross Erida On Jan 04, 2022

Salamat kaayo to Sir Myrson who is a high school teacher in Olango. He has been helping us to deliver relief goods to families. Thank you for caring and giving to others even above yourself amidst this great challenge. What we are able to give seems inconsequential in contrast to such a great need, but the hope you have shared with our community is greater still. Thank you as well to all our supporters! Please continue to share our story if you have the opportunity. Thank you 💞

Happy New Year! Here's some good news to start the year. With the support of just 10 friends and family members, we have been able to buy clothes, food, and basic building materials to help many families we know. This will help them to have makeshift housing and basic supplies until they can find work again. This is going to be a long recovery for everyone here, and there are many that still need help. So thank you so very much to everyone whose been willing to support and share our story. Much love ❤️

Salamat kaayo sa tanan! Thank you for giving and sharing our story. I really woke up this morning feeling so depressed, but when I see our friends, family, community, it gives me so much encouragement to carry on. Please, please do share our story!! This really couldn't have come at a worse time as so much of people's funds have vastly been used up due to the enduring pandemic and restricted local and global economy. There are so many more that need and will continue to need help. Community is power 💪🤜🤛 Much love to all who are willing to listen ❤️

My brother traveled far into the mountainous area to deliver relief goods to our cousin and his large family. People in the mountains rely mostly on the land but the typhoon has taken out their farms and much of the livestock. With transportation, communication, and electricity still out, they are largely isolated from large scale disaster relief from the government or the like.

This is Mother Lila and Auntie Evelyn. As I said before, they lost much of their house. Their family of 9+ people are living in what is left of their house. There is no work/ salary except for them except from myself and my cousin who evacuated far away to keep our online work. Thank you so much for your support. We can do this without you.

Foe Auntie Dai Dai and her family of 9+ persons.

For Zorren and his family of 7+ persons.

For the lovely Manang Mariah and her precious daughter.

While people still need to wait for hours in long lines for water, groceries, etc., your love is already helping many families. For example, our friend Elaine, who lost her home, was able to buy groceries for her family. We sent to our 'big sister' Mamang who in turn shared with her friends and neighbors. You can see Mamangsriend who lost so much was happy to cook using charcoal. Thank you so much and pls pls pls continue to share our story so we can reach more. The need is so great here.

We've compiled a video to help document our experience of Typhoon Odette (Rai). I hope this will give you a better perspective of this great challenge. Thank you if you are willing to hear our story though it adds extra heaviness to an already difficult time and is clashing to what we would wish to see and feel during the spirit of the holidays. I would only reach out if I had no other means available. Thank you sincerely from our hearts to all who have already been open to our story and those who will. Much love ~ Jem and Isaac
