CAR T cancer treatment for Zinaida

Hi there, I'm Ilona and I'm raising funds to support my close friend’s wonderful mother, Zinaida Alexandrovna, as she battles her illness - blood cancer !

She's not just a fighter against cancer but also a beauty, a Yamal veteran, and a dedicated teacher with 35 years of experience. A strong woman that raised 2 kids by herself in Siberia and never lost her appetite for life. She loves travelling,gardening, helping animals and people. Always so generous, smiling and kind hearted.

It all began in February 2021 when Zinaida Alexandrovna, Kate’s mother, was diagnosed with multiple myeloma. Since then, it's been a journey of ups and downs. Over the past 3+ years, she's undergone four lines of therapy, maintaining a brave spirit throughout.

However, in February 2024 her last available therapy stopped working. While the Botkin Hospital’s commission could only offer high-dose dexamethasone, the response from a reputable Chinese clinic suggests an impressive chance of 90% improvement and 50% full remission that could last years and years!

This remarkable feat is made possible through CAR-T technology - a groundbreaking treatment utilizing chimeric T-cells. It essentially reprograms one's own T-cells to target and destroy some types of blood cancer cells.

The Boren Clinic in China has quoted $69,000 for the procedure, excluding additional expenses such as travel, food, prior investigations, expensive supportive medications, possible complications etc. Expected final amount is about $85,000.

Interesting thing is that my best friend Kate is a CEO of a tech-driven charity called Helpster (https://helpstercharity.org). They save poor kids in Bangladesh, Nigeria, Kenya & Cambodia by funding access to basic vital healthcare. And now she is seeking help herself.

While Kate can cover a big part of this amount herself, I'm reaching out for support to bridge the gap and help this wonderful family that I have been a part of for over 15 years.
