An application is with Randwick Council for 38 Canberra Street Randwick for a 11-room, 14-lodger, 2-storey boarding house. The proposed development is inappropriate for the site - it is high density, out of character with the local area, will detrimentally impact on-street parking and will seriously impact the amenity of adjoining properties. Over 50 local residences have already submitted objections to the proposed development. Nonetheless, a planning report has recommended approval of the proposal. We have successfully argued for a decision to be deferred until the next Planning Committee meeting in March. In preparation for that meeting, the Canberra Street Action Group would like to obtain expert town planning advice to support our collective objections to the proposal.
