Camp of Hope

In what has been know for the past 7 years as the world's largest open air prison, more than 300,000 people of Gaza have been displaced due to the deadly attacks by Israel.  The most recent attack has resulted in the killing of 2145 people.  578 have been children.  The children who have survived have suffered through physical, emotional, social and humanitarian crisis. 

We believe that in working together in our communities, we can help ease the suffering of these vulnerable children.  Our success depends on the help we recieve in our private campaign to establish a Camp of Hope for our children to bring back the smiles to their faces.

Imagine if you will your life as a child in Gaza. You have only been on this earth a short while maybe 12 years and you have already experienced three wars. Three times in those 12 or less years your life has been turned upside down. You may have been wakened in the middle of the night to the sounds of explosions and when the dust has cleared your family is lying beneath the rubble. Life as you knew it before is completely changed. Where once you played with your friends, where once you attended school or sat at the table with your family enjoying an evening meal, now you pick through the rubble of your lost dreams. Fearful and feeling alone you sometimes wander through the streets of your city searching for a familiar face wondering what to do and where to go.

We here in Gaza don't have to imagine it. We live it. We ask ourselves every day why our children must experience this great destruction. We ask ourselves what we can do to help the children. That is why we have created this project. We want to create a camp for the children where they can find some sense of stability. We want to create a routine for them in this three month camp where they can participate in activities that will bring once again the fun and the joy of the childhood experience. We are starting a fund raising project to help us with the expense of this camp for children. Many friends will come together in our city to help teach, to help supervise our activities and to provide psychological counseling for our children of Gaza. Our goal to finance this project is set for $6,500.00. The money we collect from donations will provide rent for our building, an office with laptop, projector and other teaching tools, chairs for 100 children, six leisure trips, organizing competitions for the children to participate in as well as prizes for the winners of the games and competitions. These are a few of the most necessary things needed to operate this camp. We need your kind donations to make this happen for our children who will benefit from this camp. This humanitarian effort created for and within our community will bring back the smiles and the joy of childhood to  our children. We believe it is a positive step to rebuilding Gaza.
