Kolkata (Calcutta) is known for being the home of Mother Teresa showing amazing compassion to the poor. It is known for its intense poverty and has been described as a place that ‘assaults all the senses’. Songachi is an area in the north of the city with several hundred multi-story brothels, housing around 10,000 sex workers.

Alice will work as a Music Therapist with women and children in this community, working alongside the local charities that she has built relationship with on many previous visits. Music is innately part of us, and even more within our language and culture. It often speaks straight to our hearts, therein facilitating expressive communication, change, and new "conversations". 'Where words fail, music speaks'.

Your donations would go towards the costs of providing good quality musical percussion instruments and ongoing support through Music Therapy supervision via skype.
